Merger, handshake

National home care services provider Help at Home started off the New Year with an acquisition that will expand its services in two states.

Chicago-based Help at Home announced Monday it will acquire Pennsylvania-based Open Systems, which provides home care services in 68 counties across Pennsylvania and two counties in neighboring Delaware. The acquisition will provide Help at Home entree into Delaware.

“We’re excited to welcome Open Systems to Help at Home in these two states. The organization’s breadth and depth will be a great addition to our strong market presence and commitment to the communities we serve,” Help at Home regional leader Josh Drebes said in a statement. “Like Help at Home, Open Systems has a deep-rooted history of delivering high-quality, person-centered care throughout many communities in Pennsylvania and Delaware. We look forward to welcoming them to our team as we grow together, helping more seniors and must-serve populations age in place in their homes.”

The acquisition of Open Systems does not include the company’s territory in the District of Columbia. Open Systems President, and COO Charles Hill said the two companies are a natural fit and integration should be seamless.

“Moving forward, we are confident that Help at Home will provide the excellent care delivery our clients are accustomed to, while our remaining team continues to serve our Washington, D.C. area clients with compassion and respect,” Hill said in a statement.

Help at Home provides home care services across a dozen states to more than 65,000 patients. The company recently launched a new program which helps capture patients’ social determinants of health and connects them with additional services.
