Today is the standard deadline for nominations to the 2023 McKnight’s Women of Distinction awards program, but nominations will be welcomed until the extended deadline of Tuesday, Jan. 10.

Nominations for the Rising Star, Veteran VIP and Hall of Honor awards that are submitted by today will have a $79 entry fee. Nominations accepted between Friday, Jan. 6, and Tuesday, Jan. 10, will carry a $109 entry fee.

The fifth annual awards program — a joint effort of McKnight’s Home Care, McKnight’s Senior Living and McKnight’s Long-Term Care News — recognizes women across those three categories as well as through a Lifetime Achievement Award and Spirit Awards. Eligible for recognition are women working as direct care providers, managers, executives, corporate executives and owners in home care, home health, hospice and palliative care; independent living, assisted living, memory care and life plan communities; as well as those working in those capacities in skilled nursing facilities.

Women who serve the fields indirectly — for instance as association staff members, academicians or thought leaders — also are eligible for recognition. Individuals working for vendor companies serving the industry are not eligible.

Nominators should be prepared to share detailed qualitative and quantitative information about nominees’ work histories, exceptional achievements and contributions or service, and anything else the judging panel should consider.

In addition to recognizing Rising Stars, Veteran VIP and Hall of Honor inductees, the program’s Spirit Award will recognize inspiring caregiving and service provision efforts. Eligibility for this award is open to women who have demonstrated acts of bravery, courage, perseverance, dedication, determination — or other noble gestures. Entries for this award may be submitted at no charge.

All honorees, including a Lifetime Achievement Award winner and the Spirit Award winners, will be celebrated at an in-person event in Chicago in the spring that also will recognize winners from previous years. Details about the event, which also will include educational sessions, will be announced soon.
