It can be hard to keep track of so much data from medical records across multiple platforms. To solve this problem, Help at Home launched a platform that connects multiple data sets across several platforms into a single-use tool. The technology earned Help at Home a Gold in the Keep It Super Simple category in the Home Care track at the 2023 McKnight’s Excellence in Technology awards.

To support Help at Home’s 50,000  caregivers in serving their clients’ needs, the organization’s business intelligence and operations team created a single-use tool that provides real-time updates and visualization of metrics from the multistate level all the way down to single supervisors. The tool was designed to provide better visibility into data quality issues and improve client care by making sure caregivers are available to serve the hours prescribed in the authorization. From February 2022, when the program was implemented, through December 2022, Help at Home realized a 5% increase in utilization, or care hours served, versus care hours authorized.

“As a result of the tech-savvy tool, we’re able to make a real impact through utilization and accuracy improvements with this new method of tracking authorized care hours that lead to better-served clients and more stringent billing accuracy processes,” Marek Bako, vice president of analytics and data management, said. “Operations teams can view metrics in real-time dashboards bringing consistency and transparency across multi-state and specific branch-level KPIs to better manage care and hours served. We will continue to use this product as we continue to create innovative tools through tech that can make an impact for our business.”
