A new partnership between tech-enabled insurance platform Bright Healthcare and in-home care platform MedArrive could improve health outcomes for 10,000 patients in Charlotte, NC. The program deploys emergency medical service professionals into homes for  preventive health visits supervised by physicians via telemedicine.

Bright HealthCare President Patrick Mobley told McKnight’s Home Care Daily Pulse the program could result in significant healthcare savings.

“Data is preliminary, but we believe this program will reduce hospitalizations as more individuals engage in our integrated system of care,” Mobley said.

The companies cited the transformative impact COVID-19 has had on the way care is delivered for the collaboration. Bright HealthCare and MedArrive said the partnership helps bridge the gap between virtual care and face-to-face provider visits. It also could help EMS teams diversify their daily responsibilities and earn additional income.

Mobley said Bright HealthCare is looking for other ways to expand care to patients at home, in clinics and through new uses of technology.

Bright HealthCare serves 720,000 consumers in more than two dozen states.  MedArrive employs more than 50,000 field providers, including EMS technicians, through a national network.
