Heal CEO Scott Vertrees discusses how Heal’s strategy of bringing primary care into the homes of seniors is improving outcomes and attracting more patients to the platform.

“The transition to value-based care has been really fundamental to what we want to be as Heal matures,” Vertrees told Staff Writer Diane Eastabrook of McKnight’s Home Care Daily Pulse. “Essentially, we want to be able to take care of seniors in a value-based care environment through a combination of house calls, remote patient monitoring and telemedicine. So that really gives us the ability to sort of have a 360-degree view of the patient in a very different format that might be available to them at a clinic.”

Vertrees, who said there has been a 60% growth rate in patients over the last six months, also talked about the four pillars of the tech-enabled company: telemedicine, remote patient monitoring, an electronic health record, and using technology to deploy caregivers in the field. And partnerships with home health, urgent care and other players are critical to serve the diverse needs of patients, he said.
