As a gerontologist specializing in aging in place and proactive care management, Amanda Young is making a name for herself within the continuing care at home industry.

Young earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Mansfield University of Pennsylvania and her master’s degree in gerontology from McDaniel College. She is pursuing a PhD in gerontology and leadership at Concordia University Chicago.

In June 2022, Young helped launch The Wesley at Home, the first CCaH in Maryland. It is dedicated to bringing a continuum of coordinated wellness and long-term care services to older adults in Maryland in their own communities and homes. As executive director, Young was responsible for all aspects of the organization’s successful launch, including its operations, marketing, social media branding, board management, state reporting, budgets and member recruitments.

Her experience with CCaH started early in her career. Before her move to Maryland, Young was the executive director of the BeWell@Home, the CCaH program of the Lutheran Homes of South Carolina, and senior director of independent living of Franke at Seaside, one of Lutheran Homes of South Carolina’s life plan communities, rising through the ranks from staff to leadership.

She also previously was the wellness coordinator for Pathstones by Phoebe, a CCaH program of Phoebe Ministries in Allentown, PA, where she established a holistic, multifaceted wellness program using seven dimensions of wellness, developing and standardizing the program for its members.

Young has presented twice on the CCaH model at LeadingAge’s annual meeting and has been a certified case manager with the National Academy of Certified Case Managers since 2017. She has served as an instructor with the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Clemson University since 2019.
