If you want to find Carole Considine, don’t look in her office.

The executive director of Harvester Place Memory Care in Burr Ridge, IL, is more than likely out among her community’s residents.

In the sector for more than 30 years, Considine first was a social worker and then became a licensed nursing home administrator and then eventually an executive director.  Her formal education background includes an undergraduate degree in social work from the University of St. Francis.

She grew up in a family of 11 and says that her upbringing informs the work she does at

Harvester Place. It all contributed to judges naming her a “Setting the Standard” honoree in the 2023 McKnight’s Pinnacle Awards program.

Considine began leading Alexian Village of Elk Grove in 2012, where she oversaw the conversion of 26 assisted living units to memory care in 2016.

She joined Harvester Place, part of Anthem Memory Care, in 2018. Many in the Anthem family of communities since have emulated Considine’s programs for residents, recognizing her skilled approach.

In a comment to US News World and Report for its ratings of Best Memory Care communities, which included Harvester Place, a family member gave this straightforward observation: “Carole, the director, knows every resident personally and treats them with respect and dignity.”

The same can be said for how she treats those who work for her. When one received a cancer diagnosis and didn’t have a support system, Considine stepped up to visit her weekly to help fill her pill boxes and arrange her follow-up medical appointments.

“She is not only knowledgeable, kind and compassionate, but her servant leadership is unparalleled,” said Colleen Kamin, executive director of Anthem’s Porter Place Memory Care.

The McKnight’s Pinnacle Awards program is jointly administered by McKnight’s Home Care, McKnight’s Senior Living and McKnight’s Long-Term Care News. Honorees were recognized March 7 at a dinner and awards ceremony in Chicago. The program’s Platinum sponsor was MatrixCare. Omnicare was a Silver sponsor, and additional sponsors included Pinnacle Quality Insight, HealthDirect and Sentrics.
