For Melicia “Lisi” Coleman, nursing and home care run in the family. Her parents are well-respected members of the Louisiana home care industry, with both being inducted into the Home Care Association of Louisiana Hall of Honor

Coleman, however, also has made a name for herself.

Over her more than 25 years working in the home health industry, she has performed in a variety of roles. They have been in finance, quality, billing and collection, and most recently as the director of marketing and business development at Vital Health Care Group — a position in which she has served since 2019.

Formerly, Coleman served as the president of the Home Care Association of Louisiana, where she joined her parents in being inducted into the organization’s Hall of Honor.

Perhaps Coleman’s greatest achievement, however, came in the mid-1990s with her development of the HomeSight Low Vision Program.

The program and its protocols, which since have been licensed nationally, have been used to help “thousands of people nationally,” Director of Vital Health Care Group Guy Davis said.

“These evaluation, treatment and outcome measures that Lisi, in collaboration with HomeSight therapists and nurses created, address functional deficits in low vision patients,” Davis added.

Coleman was honored for her work by the Occupational Therapy Association of Louisiana and by Nursing Today.

Outside of her work, Coleman is active in her community, serving on a local church school board and with Evangeline Partners, a nonprofit that aims to meet local healthcare needs. She and her husband, Bryan, also have raised seven children and are the proud grandparents of five grandchildren.

Coleman rises above and beyond to get the job done, Davis said.

“Surviving the constant changes in Medicare reimbursement, labor shortages, pandemics, serving in the community, all while raising a big family, make Lisi a perfect choice for the Hall of Honor,” he said.
