Today, IHCU, in Greenville, SC, provides service to 300 hospice and 3,500 home health patients. Much of the credit for this growth can be attributed to Magen Shelton’s work.

“In the seven years she has been part of the company, there is almost no area she has not touched, and she has contributed significantly to the company’s incredible recent growth,”IHCU Marketing Coordinator Kristy Kaliope said.

Shelton currently is vice president of strategic development at IHCU, one of the largest franchise operators of the national home healthcare provider Interim Healthcare. In this role, she was awarded with the Business Integrity Award, given to an Interim Healthcare franchise operator who best represents the values of company founder Allan Sorensen.

Before her current role, Shelton held the position of IHCU hospice administrator. During this time, she implemented a bucket list program for her patients.

One of her most significant contributions to IHCU was the spearheading of the company’s Wow Our World, or WOW, customer service program.

“This program encompasses service excellence with every ‘touch’ the company has with an individual ranging from how emails are written, phone calls are answered, dress code, etc,” Kaliope explained. When Magen Shelton joined Interim HealthCare of the Upstate in 2014, the company assisted 75 hospice and almost 800 home health patients. Those numbers have almost quadrupled in her time there.

“The goal is to WOW at every encounter and exceed the expectation of the customer, as well as an employee.”

Outside of her work at IHCU, Shelton and her dog, Murphy, travel to area nursing homes and hospitals to boost morale and offer companionship to residents. She is also involved in multiple charitable organizations, such as the Alzheimer’s Association Upstate SC Chapter, Cancer Society of Greenville County, and Healing and Learning through Equine Relationships — a program close to her heart as a lifelong horseback rider herself.

This kind of charitable action is in line with the compassion Shelton displays on a daily basis at IHCU.

“It’s difficult to summarize all of the ways Magen Shelton has supported the homebound and medically fragile population throughout her career,” Kaliope concluded.
