Giving clients ownership over their care decisions may be the formula for success for Ingleside at Home (IAH), which recently received two 2024 Home Care Pulse Best of Home Care Awards.

Home Care Pulse, a technology firm that provides data analytics and e-learning tools to drive engagement and retention, recognized Ingleside at Home, which provides customized home assistance and serves parts of Virginia, Maryland and DC, as a Provider of Choice and Employer of Choice. It was the sixth consecutive year Ingleside at Home received such designations.

“A larger part that contributes to the consistency of excellence is our retention,”  Ingleside Chief Operating Officer Christine Podles told McKnight’s Home Care Daily Pulse in an email. “We have longstanding team members who know, understand and believe in our vision to provide excellent care. The care and compassion they provide our clients are unmatched.”

According to Podles, this retention is earned through making caregivers an active and integral part of the care decision-making process. Their perspective must be at the forefront of important care decisions.

“Our care team is the lifeline of Ingleside at Home. Without them we wouldn’t be who we are,” Podles said. “We value our caregivers, their opinions and their feedback; we encourage constant communication between caregivers and office staff. They are often told they are our eyes and ears as they see our clients on a daily basis. We have team members who are still with us since IAH’s conception.”

While the awards make a nice addition to the trophy case, their significance is much more than just a token of victory. For Podles, it is validation and another reminder that caregivers play an important role in establishing relationships with patients.

“To be a provider of choice means we have gained the trust of our clients and their families,” said Podles. “They look to us to care for them during a vulnerable time in their life or their loved one’s lives. This further proves IAH’s commitment to providing excellent quality and compassionate care.”
