Senior care provider CenterWell has reaffirmed its plans for continued growth in the coming years, with new practice locations and expanded service offerings expected soon.

Although its well-known parent firm, Humana, logged disappointing results in its most recent earnings report, the company’s CenterWell division was held up for its strong performance. The care delivery segment, they said, is poised for continued growth in existing markets, as well as further expansions in new territories across the US.

Such new territories include Asheville, NC; Baton Rouge, LA; and New Orleans, according to a statement. These locations are slated to begin operations in late spring or early summer, the company said.

“Bringing these senior primary care centers to additional communities means more patients can benefit from the entire CenterWell ecosystem,” Sanjay Shetty, MD, president of Humana’s CenterWell segment, said. “Giving more seniors access to the integrated assets of CenterWell — primary care, home health and pharmacy — means they’ll receive the holistic care they need at a greater value.”

The company also laid plans to expand operations in Charlotte and Raleigh, NC; Indianapolis; Jackson, MS; Louisville, KY; Orlando, FL; and Richmond and Tidewater, VA. These new centers are expected to open by the end of 2024, Centerwell said. As many as 50 centers in total are expected to be added by the end of 2025.

CenterWell acquired several new locations in the past year, and also expanded its delivery capabilities to include more home-based services, contributing to its success in 2023. Primary Care Anywhere, unveiled in August, brings primary care physicians into patients homes to perform routine services like vaccinations, screenings and blood draws.

“It’s exciting to see our continued growth at CenterWell Senior Primary Care this year,” Reneé Buckingham, president of CenterWell and its sister brand, Conviva Care Centers, said in a statement.

Humana also recently appointed a new president of enterprise growth, a role that will focus on growing the share of Humana’s health plan members using CenterWell’s services. David Dintenfass will start in this role effective Feb. 5.
