woman's face

Today marks the first day people can submit their nominations for McKnight’s Women of Distinction awards, an annual program that honors women who work in long-term care. For the first time, McKnight’s Home Care is a part of the event.

Those who submit their nominations by Dec. 8  can receive the early-bird rate of $69. The rate will rise to $99 afterwards.

This is the fourth year for the awards competition. All three McKnight’s brands are sponsoring the event: McKnight’s Home Care, McKnight’s Senior Living and McKnight’s Long-Term Care News. Among those who are eligible for recognition are women who are managers, executives, corporate executives, owners, direct care providers and managers of home care organizations; independent living, assisted living, memory care and life plan communities; and skilled nursing facilities. Those who serve the field indirectly, such as association staff members or thought leaders, also are eligible.

The awards recognize women in three categories:

Hall of Honor candidates should be at the level of vice president (or equivalent) or higher and must have made a significant impact in their organizations.

Rising Stars nominees should have fewer than 15 years of experience in the industry, be no more than 40 years old, and they must have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to the industry.

Veteran VIP honorees will fall between the Hall of Honor inductees and Rising Stars. Veteran VIP nominees should have more than 15 years of experience in home care, senior living or skilled nursing but should be at a level lower than vice president (or equivalent.

New this year will be a Spirit Award to honor notable women who have gone above and beyond in their duties. One lifetime achievement award also will be bestowed.
