Humana disclosed Thursday that it is partnering with AdaptHealth and Rotech Healthcare to provide durable medical equipment to Medicare Advantage HMO members receiving home care.

The partnership reflects a commitment to expand value-based care across Humana’s home care services through its onehome division, a statement said. As a part of this commitment, the company said one of its “top priorities is to build and rapidly scale a comprehensive value-based home care offering that covers 40 percent of Humana Medicare Advantage members by 2025.”

“Partnering with national DME partners under a value-based arrangement aligns with our goal to enhance access to the home care services we provide to patients across the country,” Kirk Allen, senior vice president of Home Solutions at Humana, said in a statement. “We’re excited about the partnerships we’re announcing today because working with these organizations on a national level will help us streamline and simplify our efforts to get Medicare Advantage HMO patients the equipment they require with best-in-class service, while empowering healthcare providers to more efficiently fulfill their patients’ DME needs.”

As a result of the partnership, AdaptHealth will provide DME to Humana Medicare Advantage HMO members in 33 states, as well as the District of Columbia.

“We are delighted that Humana has partnered with AdaptHealth to help its members achieve their best health at home,” AdaptHealth CEO Steve Griggs said in a statement. “Our unmatched nationwide network of more than 700 locations, a resilient supply chain, and a focus on technology and in-home service to improve patient care will deliver excellent value to Humana Medicare Advantage members.”

The partnership does not, however, apply to all MA plans — only to HMO plans. Humana MA members enrolled in preferred provider organization plans or private fee-for-service plans will not receive DME services. AdaptHealth and Rotech Healthcare will begin providing DME services under a value-based structure on July 1.
